Companies procuring learning technology need to make a tough decision about which platform to buy. The reason it’s tough is because you can’t cherry-pick the features you want from multiple platforms. And the choice you make is one you will be stuck with for a while.
To reach a decision, typically you will start by defining what you need the technology for. You could then proceed with a market scan (i.e. finding out what’s on offer) and then, once you’ve got a feel for what you need, create an Initial Vendor List. As you find out more about these options, you will eliminate some because they won’t meet your needs. Others will stand out because they meet - or even exceed - your expectations. You will end up with a shortlist. That’s where the real work starts.
At this point, you will want to draw up a very thorough list of functional requirements, considering as many scenarios as you can.
